Afternoon notes

It’s days like these that I’m not too saddened by Tyrone Willingham’s practice of keeping media out of practice (aside from the first 25 minutes). The team is outside practicing in in a downpour right now, and I gotta say I’m ok with missing that.
In his afternoon meeting with the media, Willingham said there were no new injuries to report. He also put a tentative time table on Quintin Daniels return for the first time, saying that the receiver is likely out for two or three weeks, including this week.
Willingham was asked about his team’s halftime routine. Here’s what he said:
“In a very general sense, what we try to do with the time we have at halftime, is first, collect the thoughts of the players and the coaches, make sure that everybody is on the same page with what you saw in the first half, then once you have those thoughts, you put together your plan and outline it for what you need to attack and do for the second half. Then you come from there, usually we break up, have our coaches talk to our players about their individual responsibilities, collectively and or as a defense or individually in terms of their positions. Then I will gather the whole team together, give them their final marching orders, then we come out of the locker room.
“The first thing I do is talk to our team. That’s the first thing I do. Go in, talk to our team, where we’re at, where I think our problems were, then go get our coordinators, we talk, communicate, get our thoughts together, then we break up, come back out, talk to the players, then go through the sequence.”
In regards to Greyson Gunheim’s earlier comment about finger pointing, Willingham said he didn’t see that happening, rather that it was just some frustration building after losses.
