Tentative starting lineup named for hoops opener

The Washington men’s basketball team opens its season tomorrow with a home game in the preseason NIT (we’ll have a story on the Huskies in tomorrow’s Herald).
Lorenzo Romar today announced that his starting five will tentatively be:
F — Quincy Pondexter
F — Jon Brockman
G — Joel Smith
G — Venoy Overton
G — Justin Dentmon
If you were at Washington’s exhibition game against SPU, the addition of the freshman Overton shouldn’t be a huge surprise. Overton came off the bench in that game, but was on the court for 33 minutes and for much of the night looked like Washington’s second best player on the court behind Brockman.
Overton and Dentmon played together for a lot of that game, and having two point guards on the floor is helpful for Dentmon, as it keeps him from having to bring the ball up the floor on every possession.
