Holiday causes closures today
Happy Thanksgiving. Here are some closures:
Government: Federal, state and local offices are closed.
Schools: Closed.
Post offices: Closed, although Express Mail service continues.
Commerce: Most businesses and banks are closed. Some retail stores are open, but malls are closed.
Transportation: Everett Transit, Community Transit and Dial-A-Ride are on Sunday schedules.
Ferries: There are no runs between Keystone on Whidbey Island and Port Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula. For information, call 511.
The Herald: Classified and the reception desk are closed. Customer service (delivery) is available from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. at 425-339-3200. Call in news tips to 425-339-3428.
Groups serve up free dinners today
@1. Body FYI Bullet:Enjoy a free turkey dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Twin Eagles Cafe, 1206 First St., Snohomish. It’s the restaurant’s third annual Thanksgiving dinner. Donations are accepted for the Snohomish Food Bank.
Sultan Harvest offers the sixth annual free community Thanksgiving dinner from 1 to 4 p.m. today at Sultan Community Center, 319 Main St.
A free community Thanksgiving dinner is planned with three seatings at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. today at Westgate Chapel, 22901 Edmonds Way, Edmonds. There will be entertainment by comedian Keith Coast. The first 150 children at the 11 a.m. seating will have a chance to win a new Nintendo Wii system. All three seatings have drawings for $50 Toys R Us gift certificates and door prizes.

At No. 1 is “Town and Country,” a 2001 film that featured an ensemble cast of Warren Beatty, Diane Keaton, Andie MacDowell, Goldie Hawn and Charlton Heston. The film, which was generally panned, cost more than $90 million to make and only returned $7 million during its box office run.
