Lake Stevens: Bake sale set for Saturday

The Lake Stevens Senior Center is planning a holiday bake and craft sale for Saturday.

The sale takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the center, 1814 124th Ave. NE. Proceeds will benefit the senior center.

Rotary collecting bikes for children in need

The sixth annual Rotary Bikes for Tykes Round-Up is set for Saturday.

The Lake Stevens-Granite Falls Rotary Club will collect bicycles, tricycles and other riding toys in good condition from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lake Stevens Haggen store, 8915 Market Place, and Granite Falls Red Apple, 115 N. Granite Ave.

The bikes will be fixed up and distributed to low-income Lake Stevens and Granite Falls children in time for Christmas.

Mukilteo: City Council approves 2008 budget

The City Council this week approved a $31.3 million spending plan to take Mukilteo through 2008.

The budget includes additional funding for police and fire departments, capital improvement projects, maintenance and the creation of a new Recreation and Cultural Services Department.

Last-minute changes to the budget included shifting $1 million from the city’s capital improvement budget to parks acquisition funding. The council also voted to set aside $50,000 in the general fund for possible raises for nonrepresented employees such as the city administrator, department managers and the city clerk.
