LAKE STEVENS – Elim Lutheran Church in Lake Stevens presents “Concert for Namibia,” at 7 tonight. Tickets, available at the door, are $10 and include a dessert buffet during the intermission.
The concert will feature gospel and blues artists K.L. Williams and Rebel Soul. Known in the gospel community, they have been inducted into the Underground Blues Hall of Fame.
This concert is intended to raise funds to send a team from Elim to Namibia, Africa in July. Elim’s group will join others from Canyon Hills Community Church in Bothell. Elim team members include: Charlene Bloomingdale, Karen Cornish, Gloria deNevers, Danielle Lander, and Jessica Molstre.
In Namibia, the teams lead “Holiday Clubs” that feed, teach and love children in the name of Jesus. This program has been developed especially for African children and for partnering with the local churches. The group aims to have 4,000 children involved in this club in July. The team will also lead a seminar, “Women of Value,” to reach out to women infected with HIV and AIDS. The goal of the one-day conference is to provide hope and love to those suffering as outcasts in their own community.
