‘Viva Cuba’ to play at Everett Public Library

The independent film “Viva Cuba” is scheduled to play at 2 p.m. March 9 at Everett Public Library’s auditorium, 2702 Hoyt Ave.

The 2005 film in Spanish with English subtitles tells the story of a young girl who runs away from home after learning her mother plans to flee Fidel Castro’s Cuba.

The free screening is part of the Library’s “Second Sundays” series of independent films.

Center seeks donations for Easter baskets

The Lake Stevens Family Center is asking for donations of materials for Easter baskets for children from needy families.

The Family Center is collecting baskets, candy, plastic grass and eggs through March 13.

The center hopes to have the materials available the week of March 17-20 for parents to assemble for their children. Easter is Sunday, March 23.

Snohomish County

Conservation District seeks board member

A volunteer position is open on the Snohomish Conservation District Board of Supervisors.

The term is three years. Candidates must be a registered voter and own or occupy land within the conservation district boundary, which includes most of Snohomish County and Camano Island.

A nomination petition with 25 signatures is required to run. Forms are due by March 4.

The election will be held on March 11 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the district office, 528 91st Ave. NE, Lake Stevens.
