LAKE STEVENS — A 25-year-old Arlington man was hospitalized with fractures to his lower leg and ankle after his motorcycle collided with a car being driven by a Lake Stevens police detective on Thursday, police said.

The detective was not injured in the accident, which occurred about 6 p.m. on Highway 92 at the intersection of Grade Road, Washington State Patrol Sgt. Scott McCoy said.

The detective, a two-year veteran of the Lake Stevens force, was turning left from Grade Road onto Highway 92 when her car and the eastbound motorcycle collided, McCoy said.

The cause of the accident was still under investigation Thursday night, McCoy said. The detective’s car was unmarked and she did not appear to be answering a call at the time, he said.

The motorcyclist was taken to Providence Medical Center in Everett for treatment. His injuries were not considered to be life-threatening, McCoy said.

Highway 92 was closed for nearly three hours and traffic was detoured while the case was investigated.
