Memorial planned for U.S. Marine

A memorial service for U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Dustin Canham is planned for Saturday.

The event is 10 a.m. at the War Memorial at 1808 124th Ave. NE in downtown Lake Stevens.

Canham, 21, died March 23 in Djibouti, Africa, while supporting his unit in anti-terrorism and humanitarian operations.

Canham grew up in Lake Stevens, graduating in 2004 from Lake Stevens High School.

Canham’s name will be unveiled on the War Memorial granite slab, joining 34 others from Lake Stevens who have lost their lives in war. There will be other presentations and recognitions honoring Lance Cpl. Canham.

Streets are expected to be closed to traffic prior to, during and after the service.
