Grandfather accidentally hits Lake Stevens girl with truck

LAKE STEVENS — A 4-year-old girl was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries this afternoon after her grandfather accidentally hit her with a pickup truck in his yard in Getchell.

The incident occurred about 4:30 p.m. at the home in the 11100 block of 131st Avenue NE, said Travis Hots, chief of the Getchell Fire Department.

The girl was playing on a dirt pile and the man hit her as he was backing up the truck while doing yard work, Hots said. Her grandfather took the girl inside the house and she was conscious and alert when medics arrived, the chief said. He did not know the nature of her injuries.
