LYNNWOOD — Lynnwood High School was locked down for about an hour Tuesday morning while police investigated an assault nearby.
There was no threat to student safety, Edmonds School District spokeswoman Debbie Joyce Jakala said.
Police called the school about 7:15 a.m. and suggested the school be put on lockdown as a precaution, she said.
Lynnwood police spokeswoman Shannon Sessions said police were investigating a serious assault in an Alderwood area apartment complex parking lot.
A man was seriously hurt in the assault and taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with a head injury. He’s expected to survive, Sessions said.
Someone suspicious was seen running from the apartment complex and jumped a fence headed toward the high school, prompting the lockdown.
Police detained two men for questioning and lifted the school lockdown, Sessions said.
