EVERETT — Everett police arrested a man wanted in connection with a Seattle rape Wednesday.

A Wal-Mart security guard recognized the suspect from wanted posters and called 911 around 10 p.m., Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.

Officers rushed to the store in the 11400 block of Evergreen Way and took the man into custody as he left the building, Goetz said.

The man allegedly entered a woman’s home in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood Oct. 20 and assaulted her at knifepoint while her husband was away on an errand and her children and a nanny were in other rooms. The rapist took some items from the home as he fled.

Everett police turned the man over to Seattle police detectives.

“A lot of kudos go to the security person at Wal-Mart for recognizing this person based on the information provided and calling police immediately,” Goetz said. “They did a really good job.”

The suspect was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of rape and robbery.
