SHORELINE — Arlington came back to defeat Shorewood 15-25, 25-19, 24-26, 25-22, 15-11 Monday at Shorewood High School to earn a berth in the 4A District 1 Volleyball Tournament. Arlington faces Monroe in the opening round of the district tournament on Wednesday at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.
Kelsey Czaban had 34 assists in the contest and Bre Covey had a match leading 19 kills. Teammate Kenzie Jorgenson had eight blocks and six kills and Marissa Elgarico had 15 digs.
Laura Postor led the game in digs with 27 for Shorewood and Hannah Stovey had 13 kills, four blocks and three aces. Thunderbird setter Carolyn Stransky had 25 assists and 14 digs and Ashley Baker had seven kills and 12 digs. Kelsey England had five blocks and Jamie Carroll had seven kills.
Arlington heads into districts with a record of 7-8 overall and Shorewood ends the season with a record 7-8.
3A District 1 tournament (upper bracket): At Everett, Everett defeated Ferndale 25-13, 17-25, 25-17, 25-12 in its opening round match of the 3A District One Volleyball Tournament, then defeated Shorecrest 25-17, 25-18, 16-25, 25-19 to move onto the championship game Saturday against Meadowdale. Emily Liger had a total of 14 aces and 35 kills on the day, setter Mollie Postma had 54 assists and Molly Burton had nine kills and five blocks. Leah Rudolph had 14 digs against Shorecrest and Ally Lund had 12 digs.
Shorecrest defeated Glacier Peak 25-6, 25-9, 25-8 in its opening match before falling to Everett. Shorecrest faces Lynnwood in an elimination game on Thursday.
Glacier Peak fell to Ferndale in its second game 25-17, 25-13, 25-8.
3A District 1 tournament (lower bracket): At Mt. Vernon, Meadowdale defeated Sedro Woolley 25-27, 22-25, 25-20, 25-14, 16-14, then was victorious against Mt. Vernon winning 25-19, 25-20, 25-21. Meadowdale faces Everett on Saturday in the 3A District One Volleyball Tournament championship game. Lynsey Rohrbach had 38 kills in the two matches and Megan Nelson had 69 assists. Madi Seeger had 32 digs on the day.
Lynnwood lost its opener to Mt. Vernon 21-25, 14-25, 25-15, 25-12, 15-8 but defeated Sedro-Woolley 25-20, 25-21, 25-20 to stay alive in the double-elimination 3A District One Volleyball tournament. Laycee Hill had 54 assists in the two contests and Jessika Barlow had 28 kills. Freshman Mokun Fajemisin had six kills and 10 blocks against Mt. Vernon, Katie Thurston had 15 digs in the match and Kelsey McCartney had 11 digs. The Royals face Shorecrest on Thursday in an elimination game.

Everett 3, Cascade 0: At Everett, Shelbi Douty rolled a 198 game and 511 series, while teammate Brianna Kinman had a 191 game and 547 series to lead the Seagulls (1-0) past the Bruins (0-1) in the season opener for both teams. Senior Breanne Mattson led the Bruins with a 195 game and 527 series.
