Beginner beekeeping class begins tonight
WSU Snohomish County and Beez Neez Apiary Supply offers a five-week course for novice beekeepers starting tonight, 6:30 to 9:30 at the extension office at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE. The course runs through Feb. 2 and is designed to build basic beekeeping skills. Register ASAP. Cost is $50.

12-week session addresses mental illness
The Snohomish County Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness offers Family to Family, a free series of 12 weekly classes designed to help families who have a loved one with mental illness.
The classes are 7 to 9:30 p.m. beginning today at the Pacific Campus of Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, 916 Pacific Ave.

Get free income tax preparation
Everett Community College’s Accounting Department and the American Association of Retired People will offer free tax preparation clinics from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 29 to April 14 in Rainier Hall, Room 104, 2000 Tower St.
The tax clinics are for taxpayers with low or middle incomes and those 60 and older. Tax forms will be provided.

Two Conservation District board candidates sought
The Snohomish Conservation District is searching for two volunteers to fill board positions. The board helps direct the operation of the district and reviews policies. Volunteers would serve for three years.

Marysville
Food bank reopens today
The Marysville Community Food Bank opens in a new location at 1 p.m. today with a ribbon cutting. The new location is behind St. Mary’s Church, 4150 88th St NE. New food distribution times will be 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and 9 to 11 a.m. Fridays. Tuesday is the first day clients can pick up food.
Monroe
Prepare for any disaster
The city offers a free Community Emergency Response Team class beginning Jan. 15 at the Monroe Fire Department, 163 Village Court. The class will take place on seven consecutive Thursday evenings and end with a four-hour activity Saturday, Feb. 28. The class will prepare people to respond to and cope with disasters.
