Monroe

City tries to squelch unsafe water rumor

Monroe officials took steps Monday to squelch a rumor that the city’s drinking water isn’t safe for use without first being boiled.

Concern was raised by recent news reports about a water main that broke during recent flooding. Just three customers were advised to boil their water, according to a city press release.

The limited advisory was issued as a precaution pending bacteriological tests on the repaired system. The results, available on Saturday afternoon, confirmed that the water is safe to drink, according to Monroe officials.

Everett

Report flood damage

Anyone with property that has been lost or damaged because of recent flooding should file a claim with Snohomish County’s Emergency Operations Center.

The loss or damage of houses, business structures and other private property could mean federal dollars to help rebuild. Compensation for sheds, garages and other outbuildings won’t be included, but farmers and other business owners might be able to file for money to rebuild those structures if they are integral to their livelihoods. Snohomish County officials want to know of all damage to property, regardless of whether federal emergency funding will cover it.
