Selfless gift of dinner, support means so much

On Jan. 3, my children (ages 12 and 14) and I took my husband down to Fort Lewis so he could catch a plane for deployment to Iraq. He will be on orders for 400-plus days. My husband and I decided that we were going to stop at the Alderwood mall and take the kids to P.F. Chang’s for one last dinner together. We enjoyed the time together laughing, teasing and trying new food. The staff was wonderful and attentive. We asked for the bill so we could get back on the road and much to our shock someone had already paid our $60-plus tab.
The touching gesture of this still brings tears to my eyes. We were touched that someone would see a soldier and his family and do something so selfless. Little did they know this was our last family dinner for quite awhile.
To whomever you are, thank you. It made letting Daddy go just a little easier, knowing that there are others out there supporting him just as much as we do. God bless.
