The plan (such as it is …)

OK folks, we’re within a month now of NASCAR returning — and much less than that for the NHRA. (and that can only mean local racing is just around the corner, too.)

So, its time to start looking ahead to the 2009 season.

Last year I generally posted on Mondays (What We Learned) and Fridays (Fearless Predictions), and then again on any day of the week that I had some news. I’m going to stick to that routine, but will try (“Try, not — do!” says Yoda) very hard to post more often.

Remember that I will share with you all the goodies that my media status gives me access to. If you have questions, drop me an email or comment below and I’ll try — er — will work very hard to get you an answer.

If there is something you’d like to see — let me know that, too.

To get ready for the season, I intend to start this Friday a series of posts counting down to the Granddaddy of them all — the Daytona 500 on Feb. 15. This week’s entry will cover what’s new in Cup; on Jan. 30 I’ll look at Nationwide, Trucks and the NHRA; on Feb. 6 I’ll pose my four questions for NASCAR; and on Feb. 13 I’ll have my Fearless Predictions for the season and opening weekend.

Astute readers will note the Bud Shootout and Twin Duels will happen before my predictions; that is of course by design. To paraphrase Dr. Evil, I need the info to help me make my choices.

There is something so wrong about that picture. Again, I have nothing against Reed Sorensen … but c’mon. No. 43 hasn’t been competitive for such a long time, and it appears that trend is just going to continue.

Still, if you’re Ronald McD, you’ve got to love the fact that the King will be a tireless shill for you. Do you really think he ever put STP in his cars? Yet there he was, week after week, hawking that stuff on TV and radio spots.
