Everett Garden Club to discuss dahlias
The Everett Garden Club is scheduled to meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Community Church, 710 Pecks Drive in Everett. A master gardener is scheduled to give a talk on dahlias, including tips on dividing bulbs and pest control. The program is free and open to the public. Coffee and tea will be served.

Lake Stevens
Volunteers needed to grade projects
Lake Stevens High School needs volunteers to watch seniors present their culminating exhibition projects. The culminating exhibition is intended to be a celebration of the growth and learning that students experience in high school. It is a graduation requirement. Volunteers, paired with teachers, watch students’ presentations and provide input in the evaluation process. Examples of projects include PowerPoint presentations, standard portfolios, and tri-fold board presentations. Seniors are scheduled to give their presentations in March and April.

Parent, student math event tonight
Edmonds School District high school students and their parents can attend a math advisory event from 5 to 8 tonight on the second floor of the Edmonds Community College Triton Union Building, 20000 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood.
The purpose of the event is to advise students about high school and college math expectations. There are different requirements and choices for various college programs. Math faculty from high schools, two-year colleges and four-year universities will be on hand. To understand the college math expectations, participating students may take the EdCC math placement assessment for free. The event is sponsored by EdCC, the Edmonds School District and the Transition Mathematics Project.
Monroe
Monroe schools win $10,000 in grants
The Monroe Public Schools Foundation has received 17 staff grants totaling more than $10,000. These grants should assist in funding projects for students attending public schools in Monroe. One grant will help with a literary arts magazine highlighting the work of high school students, while another expands reading enrichment programs at Monroe and Park Place middle schools. Grant money is also scheduled to buy graphing calculators for Monroe High School math students, tools to help Hidden River Middle School students develop stronger math skills, an electronic Jeopardy game for Frank Wagner Elementary, and an opportunity for early childhood teaching staff to improve their skills.
The Monroe Public Schools Foundation is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting our local public schools.
Stanwood
Relay for Life captains meeting set
All Stanwood-Camano Relay For Life team captains are encouraged to attend the relay’s first captains meeting. Team registration is ongoing. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, in the Stanwood-Camano School District board room, 26920 Pioneer Highway.The agenda includes team member sign-up procedures, fund-raising ideas and planning for the relay celebration. The Relay For Life organizing committee meeting precedes the captains meeting at 5:30 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help with team development, survivor support, promotion and publicity, logistics and set-up, sponsorship, luminaria, fundraising, entertainment and youth involvement.
The Stanwood-Camano Relay For Life on behalf of the American Cancer Society is set for May 29 and 30 at Stanwood High School.
