Everett: Mariner sets spaghetti feed

The Mariner High School instrumental music department is hosting its second annual spaghetti dinner and live auction in the school commons from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday.

The musical groups will perform live music and the food will be donated by Olive Garden.

Tickets are $10 for adults and students without ASB cards, or $8 for senior citizens and students with ASB cards. Children under 5 are free.

All proceeds go to help students with their transportation to area festivals and parades. Mariner is at 200 120th St. SW, Everett.

Everett: Roberts seeks second council term

Everett City Councilman Paul Roberts is seeking a second three-year term for Position 1 on the council this year.

Roberts, 56, recently retired from an administrative job with the city of Marysville. He continues to work for that city as a consultant and lobbyist.

Roberts was the Everett site coordinator for former Gov. Gary Locke’s Team Washington project to bring the 787 assembly to Washington state. He was also involved in efforts to bring the U.S. Navy to Everett.

He currently is vice chairman of the Washington State Aviation Planning Council, the Sound Transit board of directors and is chairman of the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency. As of Thursday, Roberts had not yet filed candidacy paperwork with the state Public Disclosure Commission.

Lake Stevens: Design T-shirt for Aquafest

Organizers of Aquafest, Lake Stevens’ premier summer festival, invite the public to design a T-shirt for the festival.

The design for the 49th annual festival should center around the theme “Rush to the Gold,” inspired by the Winter Olympics coming to Vancouver, B.C.

The contest deadline is March 30. There are two categories, free-hand drawing and computer-generated design, with 12-and-under and 13-and-over divisions.

Entry forms are at www.aquafest.org as well as Foster Press, the Lake Stevens Journal, Lake Stevens Library, Lake Stevens City Hall and the Chamber of Commerce. Completed entries can also be dropped off at those locations.

Monroe: Tour high school

Families with children in eighth grade who are getting ready to move up to high school are invited to join a tour of Monroe High School from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday. Families with children new to the public school system are also invited.

The tour begins at the administration building, 200 E. Fremont, and concludes with a question-and-answer session and a light lunch. Reservations are requested by Tuesday.
