Volunteer: Hospice plans info session

Providence Hospice and Home Care will host a free information session to review volunteer opportunities from 2 to 4 p.m. April 15 in downtown Everett. To register for this session and to get driving and parking information, call 425-261-4815 by April 13.

Volunteer: Help visitors to Everett

It’s helpful to have knowledge of Everett and the surrounding area ­­­­­— but not required — when you sign up as a volunteer travel counselor.

Help visitors and tourists discover Everett and Snohomish County at the downtown center location. Shifts usually run three to four hours, Monday through Saturday.

Benefit: Chocolate gala on March 27

A fundraising chocolate extravaganza to benefit Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County, formerly the Center for Battered Women, will be held at 5:30 p.m. March 27 at Comcast Arena.

The 17th Annual Chocolate Lovers’ Gala will begin with more than 200 items up for silent auction, dinner, and a chocolate dessert dash. Emcee Bob Drewell and auctioneer April Brown will run the auction.

Tickets are $75 and $70 per person for couples. Tables of 10 are $650.

Youths: Nominate kids for awards

The Lynnwood Rotary Club is looking for nominations for the Youth Challenge Awards that honor kids from seventh to 12th grade in Snohomish County.

Nominees can be volunteers, leaders, and inspirational young people. Categories include community service, courage, creativity, environmental service, inspiration, leadership and group award.

If you know of someone who is achieving success beyond academics and athletics, and who is an outstanding youth, download a nomination brochure or complete a nomination form at www.youth challengeawards.com. The deadline for nominations in March 31.

Donate: Women remake lives

The Queen, It’s a New Day, a twice-yearly event supported by Recovery for Life Training Center, will be held May 4 and 5 at the Holiday Inn and Suites in Everett.

This is the first time that the event, in its ninth year, has been held in Everett.

An informational and fundraising luncheon will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday and is open to the public.

RFLTC is looking for volunteers, financial support and donations of professional clothing.

Donations of career and professional clothing in good condition for women in sizes 2 to 26, nylons, underwear, shoes, purses and accessories are accepted from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturdays.

Recovery for Life will also be at the Seattle Women’s Show March 27 to 29 at Qwest Field Event Center in Seattle. For more information on donations and the event go to www.recovery forlife.org.
