Prepare: Terrace plans disaster drill

The city of Mountlake Terrace will conduct a tabletop exercise with the Emergency Service Coordinating Agency from 9 a.m. to noon April 22.

The exercise will take place in the city’s Emergency Operation Center as part of Washington State Disaster Preparedness month.

Residents, government agencies, schools and businesses are encouraged to review their own response plans and procedures in the event a disaster should occur.

Learn: Women’s health conference

Join keynote speaker Pepper Schwartz, professor of sociology at the University of Washington, and learn about women’s health and wellness and the resources available from noon to 5:30 p.m. April 10 at Edmonds Community College, 20000 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood.

The fourth annual Edmonds Community College Women’s Conference will focus on wellness of mind, body and spirit.

Edmonds Community College Women’s Studies instructor Christine Greenway will also present a workshop on body image at the conference. Benefit: Meg Tilly at Childhaven event

Childhaven’s Centennial Celebration Luncheon will take place at 11:30 a.m. April 23 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle, and features Oscar-nominated actress, novelist and child abuse survivor Meg Tilly.

Tilly, the author of three novels, retired from acting in 1995. She starred in films, including “Agnes of God,” “The Big Chill” and “Valmont.”

A minimum donation of $150 is requested. Proceeds will benefit Childhaven’s efforts to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect. Call 206-957-4807 or go to www.childhaven.org.

Volunteer: Senior center needs helpers

Volunteer: Listen to senior projects

Stanwood High School is looking for adult volunteers to serve as panel members during the presentation of senior projects. The presentations are scheduled from 7:30 to 11 a.m. and 4:45 to 8 p.m. April 20 and 21. The afternoon presentations are Running Start student presentations. Volunteers are required to fill out applications at the school district or at any school.

Donate: Wardrobe program needs bags

The YWCA Working Women’s Wardrobe Program needs clothing-store shopping bags for clothing that is donated to the program.

Free clothing is available to low-income women who are in need of clothing appropriate for job interviews and work. The program also needs personal care items such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, washcloths and feminine hygiene products. Take items to the YWCA, 3301 Broadway, Everett. Call 425-258-2766.
