Wolfinger to transfer

It has been rumored for a while that Joe Wolfinger would transfer and play his final year of basketball somewhere else, and a UW spokesman confirmed today that the redshirt junior center is leaving.

Wolfinger, who came in with the 2005 class that included Jon Brockman, played sparingly this past season and figured to struggle to find minutes again next year. Since he has only one year of eligibility remaining, Wolfinger will have to transfer to a Division II school where he would be eligible to play without sitting out a year.

Wolfinger’s depature also answers the question of how the Huskies would work out the scholarship situation. Washington signed three players who will be arriving in the fall, but lost only three players to graduation.
