Tyler Maxwell finishes as runner-up

Left wing Tyler Maxwell, Everett’s lone finalist for a WHL award this season, finished as the runner-up for the Scholastic Player of the Year award, losing out to Saskatoon’s Stefan Elliott.
Calgary’s Brett Sonne was named the league’s MVP, Vancouver’s Jonathon Blum was the Defenseman of the Year, Tri-City’s Chet Pickard was the Goaltender of the Year, and Prince George’s Brett Connolly was the Rookie of the Year.
