Daniel Bartek remaining in North America

According to uber-scribe Gregg Drinnan (link on left), recent Silvertips graduate Daniel Bartek is staying in North American and will play for Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Bartek, a native of the Czech Republic, was exploring the possibilities of playing professionally in North America, and he had the option of returning home to play pro in Europe. However, with three years of WHL experience he instead chose to take advantage of his scholarship (the league pays for one year of college for each season played). I’m sure he’s happy to be staying in North America as he’s really taken to the culture, but if I was a pro scout I would have been on Bartek in a heartbeat. With his size, hustle and reasonable skill level, I think he would make for a perfect checking forward in the pros. Hopefully he’ll still get his shot.
I checked Dalhousie’s recent hockey results and it’s not pretty: four straight last-place finishes in its league. Hopefully Bartek can help change that.
