Edmonds: Volunteer on development board

Edmonds is seeking volunteers to staff its Citizens Economic Development Commission, which is to determine new strategies for economic development, improve commercial viability, develop tourism and identify new sources of revenue.

Applications for the volunteer commission must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. June 30.

City Council members and the mayor will appoint commission members, who must reside within city limits.

Everett: Meeting on historic preservation

The Everett Historical Commission is scheduled today to discuss the Everett downtown historic preservation plan.

The meeting is planned for 6:30 p.m. in the Weyerhaeuser Room at Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave.

It will begin with a presentation on the history of downtown. Comments from the public are encouraged.

The historic preservation plan identifies historic properties and sites and proposes projects to help preserve, enhance and market those properties and sites.

Mukilteo: Help fill firefighters boots

Mukilteo firefighters’ annual “Fill the Boot” fundraiser is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday through Sunday at the Washington State Ferry holding lanes and at the intersection of Harbour Pointe Boulevard and the Mukilteo Speedway.

Proceeds will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The firefighters plan to wear bunker gear and blue T-shirts as they hold big boots, which people are encouraged to drop money into. Last year, firefighters in Mukilteo raised $6,000 for the charity. Their goal this year is to raise $8,000.
