MONROE — The man who died in a fiery crash Thursday on U.S. 2 has been identified as 44-year-old William Troy Kennedy of Monroe.
Officials are asking for help in locating his family.
Washington State Patrol detectives and investigators from the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office have been unable to track down any of the man’s relatives, trooper Keith Leary said Tuesday.
Initial evidence from the early morning crash indicate that Kennedy crossed the center line before hitting a Snohomish County sheriff’s patrol car head on, Leary said.
The deputy driver and a prisoner he was transporting were hospitalized and released.
Kennedy’s pickup truck was engulfed in flames and he died at the scene.
Anyone who knew Kennedy is asked to call the medical examiner at 425-438-6200.
Detectives still are looking for witnesses to the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call Sgt. Jerry Cooper at 360-805-1192 or detective Greg Wilcoxson at 360-805-1195.
