50 YEARS AGO (1959)
Everett Ambulance drivers William Stanton and Lonnie Nichols appeared in their new summer dress uniform: white short-sleeve shirts, bright red Bermuda shorts and red bow ties. Good-natured joshing took place from local citizenry, but the boys grinned and took it good-naturedly, silently feeling sorry for the long pants sufferers.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnson and their son Billy of Granite Falls were taking in the General Motors display at the Oregon Centennial Exposition in Portland. One of the most interesting exhibits featured a stroboscope which froze motion with a flashing light.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
The All Girls Basketball Camp was taking place next month at the Everett Community College gymnasium, directed by Jo Metzger-Levin. Guest coaches were Bruce Evans, Dennis Olson, Delores Sutherland, Dick Curnutt, Dee Dee Molner, Mark Albertine, Nancy Snyder, Susie Lillibridge and Robert Fankhauser. Sponsors were H&L Sporting Goods and Walsh Platt Motors.
A grand reopening celebration was taking place at King’s Table Buffet onBroadway. Family dining was back in style and there was good food and atmosphere at the remodeled restaurant.
