PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP: Gilbert’s two goals lift Glacier Peak

EDMONDS — Glacier Peak got two goals from Brooke Gilbert to help beat Meadowdale 3-1 on Thursday.
“Brooke’s always played solid,” Glacier Peak coach Melinda Torre said. “She just puts herself in the right place at the right time.”
Gilbert’s first goal came in the 42nd minute. She was assisted by Shelby Stromerson. Her second goal came 10 minutes later and was assisted by Hailey Garrity. Malloy Leahy added a goal for Glacier Peak in the 74th minute (Sarah Desautels assist).
“She is another one of our strong players,” Torre said of Leahy.
Julia Fjortoft scored Meadowdale’s lone goal in the 35th minute to give it the lead, but Glacier Peak scored three unanswered in the second half.
Last year, in Glacier Peak’s first year as a school, they did not have any seniors. This year, the Grizzlies have nine seniors, which Torre said provides more leadership.
“I’m really excited for this season with this group of kids,” Torre said.
Nicole Giovine played goalkeeper for Glacier Peak (2-0-0 overall). Meadowdale’s (0-1-0 overall) goalkeeper was not reported.
Edmonds-Woodway 1, Kamiak 0: At Mukilteo, junior Lauren Previs scored from about 12-yards out in the 77th minute to give Edmonds-Woodway a non-conference win. Emma Makela and Hannah Foster shared time in goal for Kamiak (1-1-0 overall). Edmonds-Woodway’s (1-0-1) goalkeeper was not reported.
Shorewood 1, Mountlake Terrace 0: At Lynnwood, Anastaja Norins scored the game’s only goal for Shorewood in the 69th minute (Hannah Dillard assist). Kelsey Jang was in goal for Shorewood (1-0-1 overall), as was Takara Mitsui for Mountlake Terrace (0-2-0).
Shorecrest 10, Mariner 0: At Shoreline, Christina Jarvis led Shorecrest past Mariner with a hat trick. Jarvis scored in the 19th minute, 26th minute and 28th minute (Alexis Ramos assist). Jessica Rankin had two goals, the first in the 10th minute (Ashley Desharnais assist) and the second in the 38th minute (Nicole Harris assist). Brianne Lasconia also had two goals for Shorecrest, the first in the 50th minute (Samantha Gwazdausks assist). The second goal was unassisted in the 67th minute. Agen Heffernan (42nd minute), Rachel Schrote (45th minute) and Lulu Wissmar (74th minute) all added unassisted goals for the Scots (1-0-1 overall). Shanice Grant and Mia Ayala split time in goal for Mariner (0-2-0 overall), as did Kayla Obrycki and Chelsey Doyle for Shorecrest.
Jackson 7, Lynnwood 0: At Everett, the Timberwolves (2-0) scored early and often in thenon-league game against the Royals (0-1). Ellen Favale (22nd minute) and Cara Wegner (assist by Brianna Ellis, 24th) scored in the first half, while Megan Bolmes (assisted by Ellis in the 46th), Ellis (49th-minute assist by Wegner), Lori DeLand (53rd), Wegner (64th) and Jessie Murphy (from Megan Cooley in minute 78) rounded out the scoring in the second half. KC Wilson and Kayla Beer shared goalkeeping duties to record the shutout for Jackson while Lynnwood’s keeper was not reported.
Monroe 0, Cascade 0: At Everett, Monroe (1-0-1 league, 1-0-1 overall) and Cascade (0-1-1, 0-1-1) played to a scoreless tie at Everett Memorial Stadium. Rachel Leupold was in goal for Cascade as was Dani Philippart for Monroe.
Marysville-Pilchuck 3, Arlington 0: At Arlington, Melissa Kirk (on a fourth-minute assist from Kayka Thistle), Lauren Noltes (70th minute) and Kiely Cordon (75th) all found the back of the net for the Tommies (2-0 overall) as they blanked the Eagles (0-2) in a Wesco North game. Arlington’s goalkeeper was Chelsea Bouton while M-P’s was not reported.
Lake Stevens 5, Oak Harbor 0: At Oak Harbor, Kaleen Berg got Lake Stevens on the board in the ninth minute (Kinslee Isaman assist), and Isaman added two goals, the first in the 30th minute (Ashley Saracino assist) and the second in the 49th minute (Annie Thomas assist). Ciara Carter also assisted on a Lindsay Licht goal in the 64th minute and scored a goal of her own in the 83rd minute (Thomas assist). Maggie Gorman was in goal for Oak Harbor (0-2-0 league and overall). Sierra Hobday played keeper for Lake Stevens (1-1-0, 1-1-0).
Cedarcrest 1, Burlington-Edison 1: At Burlington, Cedarcrest’s Gwen Bieck scored the game-tying goal in the 44th minute in a non-conference match. Maggie Preis assisted on Bieck’s goal. Bailey Gates gave Burlington-Edison (0-1-1 overall) the lead with a goal in the 13th minute. Cedarcrest (1-0-1) recorded 23 shots in the match. Cedarcrest’s goalkeeper was Kori Butterfield and Burlington-Edison’s goalkeeper was not reported.
Lakewood 3, Meridian 1: At Bellingham, sophomore Ilyssa Haunreiter scored in the 72nd minute to give the Cougars a two-goal cushion and an eventual 3-1 non-league victory over Meridian (0-1 overall). Alisha Stott scored in the 18th minute (assisted by Mariah Smith) and Yesenia Talamantes in the 25th to give Lakewood (2-0) the 2-0 first-half lead. Randi Donahue scored the lone goal for Meridian in the 68th minute. Miranda Head was the Cougs’ keeper and Abbi Rautenberg minded the Meridian nets.
South Whidbey 4, Friday Harbor 1: At Langley, Jessica Manca scored two goals and Anna Lennon and Sarah Young each added a goal for South Whidbey. Friday Harbor’s goal was not reported. Natasha Kamps was the goalkeeper for South Whidbey (1-0-0 overall). Hannah Snow played goalie for Friday Harbor (0-1-0).
Coupeville 3, Mount Vernon Christian 0: At Mt. Vernon, two of Coupeville’s three goals were scored off free kicks in its non-conference season-opening game. Coupeville is 1-0-0 overall.

Mount Rainier Lutheran 3, Grace Academy 2 (OT): At Marysville, Jake Kornbau’s overtime goal, his second of the game, gave Mount Rainier Lutheran the victory in the non-league game. Enrique Kramer put the Eagles (0-2 overall) on the board first with a 12th-minute score. Nathaniel Lugg (assist by Kramer) scored the other Grace Academy goal in the 54th minute. Kornbau (Natalie Klein assist) and Carsten Neumiller added second half goals for Mt. Rainier (1-0). Garret Weinberg was the Grace goalie while David Greenwood and Tyler Hallenberg minded the nets for the Hawks.
