SULTAN — A 46-year-old Sultan woman has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run traffic fatality near U.S. 2 earlier this month, officials said.
Paula Stierns, 47, was struck by a vehicle as she was walking after fishing with her husband about 8:15 p.m. Oct. 9 on the 311th Avenue SE bridge just south of U.S. 2.
The suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for hit-and-run involving a death, which is a class B felony.
Detectives from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office collision investigation unit located the vehicle and its owner in the Sultan area.
Detectives used tips from the public, the state Department of Licensing database and the Internet. They were able to identify the type of car they were looking for and then began searching for the right one from a list of more than 1,300 possibilities given to them by Department of Licensing.
