50 YEARS AGO (1959)
Yesterday was the grand opening of O’Connor and Cronin Shopping Area at 9700 Highway 99 S. To make way for additional business, all offices were moved out and a new 75-foot real estate and insurance office constructed. The lumber yard was now enclosed. The firm had a complete line of home furnishings. It was owned by brothers-in-law Robert D. O’Connor and Bert V. Cronin.
Karen Kloster of Marysville and Shirley Jones of Snohomish were winners of an all-expense-paid trip to Yakima to compete in the state finals of the Make It Yourself of Wool contest.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
Alice B. Carson retired from Cascade Savings and Loan Association in Everett after 20 years with the company. Her most recent position was loan servicing department manager. Steven R. Erickson was promoted to that position.
In Snohomish, city officials and the public got a look at the preliminary designs for an enclosure of the swimming pool and the construction of a senior citizens and community center. The plans called for the joint construction of an enclosure of the existing pool and a new multi-use center at Averill Park.
