Support: Lions Club to sell holiday trees
The Oak Harbor Lions Club will sell Douglas, noble, Fraser and grand firs daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. beginning Nov. 28 at the lot next to the Greater Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce, 32630 Highway 20, in Oak Harbor.
Trees will be on sale through Dec. 23 or until sold.
All proceeds support community projects.

Volunteer: Seniors, retired needed
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is looking for people 55 and older to volunteer in the community.
Volunteers receive free supplemental liability, accident and automobile insurance coverage while performing volunteer duties.

Donate: Food bank needs holiday items
People in the Stanwood area can donate to the Stanwood-Camano Food Bank to help with holiday food boxes.
Through Tuesday, Stanwood city staff have a collection box set up in the foyer at City Hall.
In addition, food donations are being collected at the Camano Island and Stanwood branches of Coastal Community Bank.
Nonperishable food along with toiletries and donations of cash or checks are being accepted.
Essays: What is the American Dream?
Students currently enrolled in the fifth through eighth grade can enter “The American Dream: What Is It?” essay contest sponsored by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States.
Essays should not exceed 250 words and must be typed or printed legibly in ink.
Participants must include their name, grade, school and nearest sponsoring Elks Club on the essay.
All student essays need to be submitted for judging to the nearest Elks Lodge by Jan. 10.
First-, second- and third-place awards for national winning essays in two divisions will be announced at the Grand Lodge session July 4 through 8 in Orlando, Fla.

Donate: Help Sky Valley Food Bank
Those who wish to donate to the Sky Valley Food Bank in Monroe can do so from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Mondays.
The food bank is located at 233 Sky River Parkway behind Monroe City Hall.

Share: Writers and poets wanted
Writers and poets can share their writing and poetry from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pointe of Grace in Mukilteo.
The event is presented by the Mukilteo Arts Guild, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the arts in the greater Puget Sound area.
