Front Porch: Dangerous cedars cut down

Everett city workers were busy cutting down two decades-old cedars deemed dangerous in Grand Avenue Park on Monday. The trees had a tendency to drop large branches during high winds, a city spokeswoman said. Workers will plant two fast-growing blue giant sequoias in their places.
Alternative gift fair: People looking for a unique gift idea may want to visit gift fair Saturday at Morning Star Lutheran Church, 338 S. Lewis St., Monroe.
The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is also part of the church’s Christmas party.
Church members will sing, play instruments and perform skits from 1 to 4 p.m. to celebrate Christmas. Homemade pie and soup will be sold during the day.
Get the word out on government access TV channels: Nonprofit or civic groups may promote events, services, meetings or other information on Marysville government access TV channels.

Talk about trains: Snohomish Railfans will meet at 7 tonight in the Hilton Lake Fire Station, 3525 108th St. SE, Everett. All railroad enthusiasts are welcome.
Toys needed for shop: The Lynnwood Police Department has joined with the South Snohomish County Toy Shop to benefit families in need for the holidays.
Drop off new, unwrapped toys at the Holiday Toy Shop bin located in the lobby at the Lynnwood Police Department, 19321 44th Ave. W., Lynnwood. The deadline for donations is Friday.
