50 YEARS AGO (1959)

Lowell Circle 513, Neighbors of Woodcraft were meeting in Lowell for a brief business meeting to be followed by a Christmas party with a gift exchange. Some of the ladies in charge of the Christmas tree and refreshments were Minnie Chadwick, Amelia Childs and Florence Woods.

Francis Cory’s drama class at South Junior presented “The Breaking of the Bread,” a chance meeting of two Civil War soldiers at Christmas. Matt Wiggum played a Union soldier while Chuck Lewis played a Confederate soldier.

25 YEARS AGO (1984)

Robert Drewel, who since June had been the interim president of Everett Community College, was appointed to the job permanently.

The Everett Suzuki dealership had earned the company’s national Super Service award, given to the top 100 of the firm’s 2,200 dealers in the U.S. Receiving the special plaque were Val Van Leuven, owner of the dealership; Rick Gervasi, service manager; and Peter Van Pelt, lead technician.
