Vote for school bands

Several local high school bands are competing in a Battle of the Bands by The Rock, Wood-Fired Pizza &Spirits.

See video submitted from Lake Stevens, Lynnwood, Mariner, Monroe, South Whidbey and Stanwood high schools at therockwfp.com. At the Web site, click on the link called “Battle of the Bands.”

Text your school code to 24300 and vote up to 10 times per day per cell phone. The school codes are listed underneath the name of each high school on The Rock’s Web site.

The Front Porch staff checked out the videos and couldn’t pick a winner from the delightful assortment.

Benefit planned for “death row dogs”: A concert is planned for 4 p.m. Sunday to benefit Ginger’s Pet Rescue. Hear music by Cherry Cherry at the Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N., Edmonds.

The rescue group is helping dogs rescued from California fires.

See “Worse Than War” in Bothell: Cascadia Community College plans to show “Worse Than War,” a new documentary about genocide, at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Global Learning and the Arts building, 18345 Campus Way NE., Bothell

“Worse Than War” follows Daniel Goldhagen, author of the book of the same name, around the world as he examines the causes of genocide. Adam Hyman, one of the co-producers of the documentary, will be at the screening and will answer questions.

“Worse Than War” is scheduled to air nationally on PBS stations in April.
