The sprint begins now

These are two huge days for the U.S. Division race. Portland travels to Tri-City tonight, while Everett heads to Spokane on Wednesday. These two games may very well set the stage for the remainder of the season. If the results go one way we see the four teams pull almost level with one another. If they go another way we get an instant sorting out, with separation between first, second and third.

Everett will have to do its bit without defenseman Curtis Kulchar. Kulchar tweaked a knee during Friday’s game at Tri-City and is not practicing with the team. Everett coach Craig Hartsburg said there was some damage, but that the injury is not considered long-term.

On the other side of the ledger, Tips left wing Campbell Elynuik’s shoulder appears to have mended. He’s taken part in a couple practices and is expected to be available Wednesday, though whether he’s able to crack the lineup is another matter.
