STANWOOD — Facing a virtual must-win scenario, Arlington and Stanwood took to the pitch Friday night, battling for fourth place and the Wesco North’s last automatic 4A District 1 playoff berth.

Led by keeper Corbin Anderson, Arlington shutout Stanwood 3-0.

David Lopez opened up the scoring for the Eagles, taking a Jake Smith pass in the 12th minute and depositing it behind the Stanwood keeper. That’s how the score stayed until midway through the second half when Isaac Ledines scored in the 65th minute on a Kevin Krogmann assist to make it 2-0. Krogmann (Smith assist) then added a goal in the waning minutes to put the game on ice.

“The first half we spent most of the time on defense against a real strong Stanwood attack,” said Arlington head coach Mike Gudgeon. “For the most part we controlled the ball and were on the attack in the second half and that was the key.”

Lake Stevens 4, Everett 2: At Everett, Lake Stevens scored three first-half goals in the Wesco North game.

Marysville-Pilchuck 4, Monroe 3: At Marysville, the Tomahawks held off a late charge from Monroe to clinch a 4A District 1 playoff berth. Anthony Johnson scored three goals and assisted on another to lead M-P (10-3-1 league, 10-3-1 overall).

Snohomish 8, Oak Harbor 1: At Oak Harbor, Snohomish’s Connor Barton scored twice for the Panthers (10-4-1 league, 10-4-1 overall), who clinched a 4A District 1 playoff berth.
