Another South County bank seized
Everett-based Frontier Bank was closed by banking regulators April 30, reopening the 40 branches in Washington and Oregon as Union Bank.
The Federal Deposit Insurance Commission took over the bank, concerned about its under capitalization. The bank was sold to Union Bank of San Francisco. The transaction will be seamless for Frontier Bank customers, who can continue to access their money wiring checks, or by using ATM or debit cards. Checks will continue to be processed and loan customers should continue to make their payments as usual.
Grants available for play fields
The Pepsi Refresh Your Field Project, co-sponsored by TOP Food &Drug, will award a grant of $10,000 and two grants of $5,000 to community fields in Washington. Applications must be postmarked by May 21 to be considered. Applications are available at TOP Food &Drug stores, including the Edmonds location, 21900 Highway 99.
Applicants must detail why their local youth baseball and/or softball program needs a Pepsi Grant for local field renovation, new equipment or new uniforms, and how the grant will be used to accomplish the program’s goals. Prizes will be awarded to the league, park district or recreational center and not to individual winners or teams.
Five finalists will be selected. Fans at home games of the Seattle Mariners between June 7 and Aug. 15 will vote to determine the grant winners.
Cycling supporters
B.I.K.E.S. Club of Snohomish County is accepting grant requests from Snohomish County organizations that support recreational cycling for children or adults. Previous grants have ranged from $150 to $1,000.
Requests should include the name of the requesting organization, full street and mailing address, contact name and telephone number, primary purpose of organization, requested amount, intended use of grant funds and description of the population that will benefit.
Requests may be submitted via e-mail or postal service. Requests by postal service must be received by May 7. E-mail requests must be received by May 11.
Send requests to: Debby Grant, B.I.K.E.S. Club of Snohomish County, PO Box 5242, Everett, WA 98206 or president@bikesclub.org

Vessel decals to expire
The state Department of Licensing has mailed postcard reminders to vessel owners replacing the familiar paper renewal notices for vessel decals. The DOL postcard does not list the WN number or the Hull identification number (HIN) which owners will need to license vessels. This information is located on boats, current registration and vessel title.
With the WN number and HIN, you can renew your vessel decals in three ways – online through www.dol.wa.gov, or by mail or in person at the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office, 3000 Rockefeller Avenue, Everett.
For questions concerning the transition, contact the DOL at 360-902-3770 option 8, or the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office Licensing Division at 425-388-3371.
Gluten-free at PCC

PCC offers about 2,000 gluten-free items identified with orange shelf tags.

Exclusive promotions, discounts and deals are available through the app that, once loaded, does not require a signal.
