Feast on local eats at Food Lust!
Published 2:38 pm Tuesday, May 25, 2010
Food Lust is coming to Snohomish County for the first time.
The fifth-annual feast, gala and fundraiser — usually held in rural King County — will benefit the Seattle-based Cascade Harvest Coalition.
Join in the feast from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 5 at The Fields at Willie Green’s Organic Farm in Monroe, a new outdoor venue for special events.
Washington wines, cider and beer will be served with appetizers during a silent auction starting at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:45 p.m. in a white Raj-style Indian tent decorated in elaborately colored drapes.
There will be a wine-bidding fundraiser known as the Bottle Brawl at 7:15 p.m., followed by a live auction and Dessert Dash (involving more bidding and bit of dashing) at 7:30 p.m.
Guests are welcome to stroll the 50-acre working farm and landscaped grounds, featuring ornamental ponds, bamboo groves, streams and Sequoia trees.
Traditional Cuban music will be provided live by SuperSones.
Most important, perhaps, for locavore foodies is the chance to hear about and get to know chefs from all the participating restaurants, all based in King County.
That includes the Copperleaf Restaurant at Cedarbrook Lodge, Elliott Bay Cafe, Fresh Bistro, Herban Feast, Portage Bay Cafe, Sip wine bar and restaurant, TASTE at Sam, Tilikum Place Cafe, emmer &rye, Hot Cakes, Savour and Boat Street Cafe.
Tickets are $85 at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/107092. Dress is down-on-the-farm formal.
Proceeds will benefit the coalition’s mission of helping farmers and sustaining local food systems for a healthy environment and community.
