Everett: Railroad buffs meet on Wednesday

Snohomish Railfans will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hilton Lake Fire Station, 3525 108th St. SE. There will be a slide program. It’s the last meeting until September.

Lake Stevens: Duck Dash tickets on sale

Tickets for the Duck Dash at the annual Aquafest celebration are now on sale.

Duck Dash raffle tickets correspond to a number on a rubber duck that will float down the creek, and prizes are awarded based on order of finish.

The race is scheduled July 25 at 3 p.m. during the festival.

The Rotary Club of Lake Stevens and Granite Falls organize the race and donate proceeds of ticket sales to scholarships, local food banks and other community projects and needs.

The race also is sponsored by several local businesses.

Rotarians plan to be out selling tickets around town. Tickets are $5 or $20 for a book of five.

Mukilteo: Learn the history of Jetty Island

The Mukilteo Historical Society meets at 7 p.m. Thursday in the basement of Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave. Thomas Murphy will present “Jetty — Natural History of a Man-Made Island.”

Murphy will share research and history along with how this man-made island is used today.

Monroe: Lane closures on U.S. 2

Evening drivers should plan for lane closures beginning tonight on U.S. 2 east of Monroe as the state Department of Transportation works on safety improvements.

Crews will be installing two-way left-turn lanes between 245th Avenue SE and 153rd Place SE. Other work will modify the highway’s intersections with Fern Bluff Road and Sultan-Startup Road.

The projects will reduce the highway to one lane of alternating traffic from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Thursday morning.
