More NHL draft stuff

I had the opportunity to talk to some members of the Silvertips organization today regarding this weekend’s NHL draft (including a phone call to Tunisia to chat with a vacationing Radko Gudas). Here’s a few of the tidbits that came from those conversations:

– The Tips sound confident that Gudas, fellow defenseman Alex Theriau and goaltender Kent Simpson will all be drafted. The Tips believe all three will be taken in the middle rounds, with the possibility each of the three could creep into the second.

– Tips general manager Doug Soetaert said he’s also received a couple inquiries about 1991-born winger Tyler Maxwell, who was passed over in last year’s draft.

– Simpson is heading to Los Angeles to attend the draft in person. He said Theriau is going to L.A., too. Soetaert, Zoran Rajcic, Jay Varady and Chris Hartsburg will round out a pretty strong Everett presence at the draft.

– TSN’s Bob McKenzie released his final rankings for the draft, and Kent Simpson is listed at 62nd overall. That would put him right at the beginning of the third round.
