Rock out at Meadowdale High School reunion

Members of the classes of 1970 and 1980 at Meadowdale High School have a special reunion planned.
Grad Matthew “Chewy” Lyons, who owns Rock and Roll Clinic in Everett, says the gang is gathering Aug. 14 to hear three tribute bands in Marysville.
It’s planned for 7 p.m. at Best Western Hotel, 3228 Marine Drive. It’s $10, first come, first in.
Perhaps you recall when a Rod Stewart look-alike was spotted in Everett in March of 2008. Turned out it was Steve Bobbitt, who has been impersonating the world-famous crooner for 14 years. He was hired to come to Everett to perform for a wake.
He’s scheduled to perform at the show.
Other tribute bands at the party imitate ZZ Top and Deep Purple.
“I wish we could take reservations, but we have to let everyone have a chance to meet with old friends and see a show,” Lyons says. “So those who are out to see old friends and have a super fantastic time will just have to show up early.
There will be two ballrooms. One is for a meet and greet.
“Anyone who wants to get their 15 seconds of fame may get up on the small stage in front of a green screen and network yourself,” Lyons says. “Tell your classmates what you have been doing these past years and give out your Web site, business address or what bridge you live under.”

Kitties were adopted at a doggie place.
“Meow in Mukilteo,” by Pawsitive Alliance was recently held at K-9 Digs in Mukilteo.
Organizer Andrea Logan says they haven’t had much luck finding places for cat adoption events.
“K-9 Digs generously offered to host it,” Logan says. “Unfortunately every place I check with for cat events says the same thing — no animals. We don’t have that problem with dog training and day care places.”
They adopted out 23 kitties in Mukilteo. She reminds folks that there are a lot of cats and kittens available at area shelters.

They had a swell time at the first Gold Dust Days BBQ Cook Off in Gold Bar.
Organizer Bob Beeman, with the Gold Bar BBQ Team, says it was a sociable time in the sun July 25.
They had a good mix of veterans and rookie teams come out to barbecue sausage, tri-tip steak, chicken and pork ribs.
“There was a very good turn out of visitors checking out the competition, talking with the teams, looking over the many types of barbecues and getting some cooking secrets,” Beeman says. “All teams said they would be back next year.”
Tom Wallin came away with the Grand Champion Award. Midnight Ramblers BBQ team from Bothell were the Reserve Champions.
Best BBQ Restaurant went to Bubba’s Road House from Sultan and the Gold Bar Fire Department came away with a trophy for the Best Fire Department in the valley.
