Mike Grimes earns WLA award

Stealth defenseman Mike Grimes earned the Western Lacrosse Association’s Defenseman of the Year award on Wednesday night.
Grimes, who re-signed with the Stealth in late July, played for the Langley Thunder in the WLA this summer.
Grimes earned five goals and six assists (11 points) for the Thunder this summer.
Currently, Stealth players Rhys Duch, Kory Kowalyk, Chet Koneczny and Rhys Jones are leading the Victoria Shamrocks against the New Westminster Salmonbellies in the WLA Championship. New West features Stealth goalies Matt Roik and Tyler Richards along with Curtis Hodgson, and recent signee Tyler Crompton.
New West took a 1-0 lead in the series Wednesday night with a 12-10 win. Rhys Duch had a goal and three assists for Victoria, but Tyler Richards led New West with 32 saves.
