Tips release Jeff Regier

The Tips made a roster move today in preparation for Friday’s season opener, releasing defenseman Jeff Regier.
Regier, the former Silvertip, was with the team during preseason on a tryout. However, the acquisition of 20-year-old d-man Chad Suer on Friday filled Everett’s need for a veteran blueliner, making it an uphill battle for Regier to make the team.
Regier will play for the Surrey Eagles of the BCHL this season.
The move leaves Everett with eight defensemen. There may be one more move on the way on defense, as the Tips might go with just seven d-men this season. But with Rasmus Rissanen still at camp with the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes, it seems likely all eight will be with the team for Friday’s season opener.
Everett still has a decision to make on its back-up goalie. The Tips also have to decide whether to pare away any of their 15 forwards.
