With one ferry out, state shuffles boats on Mukilteo-Clinton run

The state ferry system has brought in another boat on the Mukilteo-Clinton run to take the place of the ferry Kittitas while it is repaired.
The replacement ferry, the 87-vehicle Evergreen State, was moved from a San Juan Islands route on Monday.
The 124-vehicle Kittitas had problems with its propeller system on Saturday, according to the ferry system, reducing the route to one boat and resulting in long waits in Mukilteo and Clinton. The 34-vehicle Hiyu, the smallest and only available backup vessel in the system, was brought in Sunday afternoon.
On Monday, the Hiyu replaced the Evergreen State on the San Juan route. Riders should expect longer waits for several days on both the Mukilteo-Clinton route and the San Juan route because of the use of the smaller boats.
No date for the repair of the Kittitas has been set. The ferry was taken to Todd Shipyards in Seattle, ferry system spokeswoman Susan Harris-Huether said. If the boat has to be put in dry dock it will add to the repair time, she said.
