First, an update on Everett’s players at the U-17 World Hockey Challenge. Winger Jari Erricson scored twice to lead Team Pacific to a 7-3 victory over Slovakia on Friday night. Erricson, with his first points of the tournament, was named Pacific’s Player of the Game. Team Pacific, which also includes Tips defenseman Nick Walters is 3-0 and on track for a spot in the semifinals. Everett general manager Doug Soetaert was at the tournament Wednesday and Thursday. He said Walters was laying out some big hits and that Erricson was playing really well on the penalty kill. Prospect goaltender Andy Desautels, who’s playing for Team West, has yet to get into a game.
Now on to The Macs midget tournament, in which eight Everett prospects participated. The big standout among Everett’s prospects is 16-year-old center Kohl Bauml. Bauml has six goals and six assists in six games, helping lead the Saskatoon Contacts into this afternoon’s championship game. Twice he’s been named Saskatoon’s Player of the Game. The other point getter among Everett’s prospects was winger Carson Samoridny, who had four goals and one assist in four games for the St. Albert Raiders.
