Sultan: Learn about proposed flood maps

Skykomish Valley area residents will have an opportunity to see changes to the preliminary flood maps.

The city has scheduled a public meeting for 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, City Council chambers, 319 Main St.

The meeting will be include

staff members from the county, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the city.

Everett: View Ridge remodel proposed

The city of Everett is accepting comments on an Everett School District project planned at View Ridge Elementary, 202 Alder St.

The project includes replacing the school with a two-story building and a covered outdoor play area. The building height would be about 46 feet, which is lower than the current outdoor covered play area known as “the big top.” Parking would be provided for 98 cars.

Everett: Port Gardner cleanup meeting set

North-end neighbors and the public are invited to a neighborhood meeting focused on a planned cleanup of Port Gardner.

The Bayside Neighborhood Association has invited officials from Kimberly-Clark’s plant in Everett and the state Department of Ecology to talk at its monthly meeting, set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Everett Public Library.

The state has identified Port Gardner as one site that needs to be cleaned up as part of its Puget Sound Initiative, a state effort to restore Puget Sound by the year 2020.

The state agency has secured agreements with liable parties to investigate and cleanup the site.

A separate public meeting on the cleanup is scheduled for Feb. 16 at the Snohomish County PUD.

Mukilteo: Dance benefit on Jan. 29

You don’t know the difference between the hokey pokey, the foxtrot or the waltz? Don’t let that stop you from participating in “A Night in Vienna,” on Jan. 29. The night of ballroom dancing is scheduled at Kamiak High School’s Commons, 10801 Harbour Pointe Blvd. The event is a fundraiser for the orchestra’s trip to Spain in April.

Professional instructors from the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Everett will be on hand from 6 to 7 p.m. Dancing from 7 to 9 p.m. follows with a live orchestra.
