SEATTLE — The University of Washington women’s basketball team played just one game last week, but Kristi Kingma did enough in it to earn Pac-10 player-of-the-week honors.
Kingma, a junior from Mill Creek, scored a game-high 29 points and was the lone UW player in double figures during a 64-52 win over Washington State on Sunday. She hit 5 of 9 shots from 3-point range and had a career-high six steals to help bury the Cougars, who have now lost 31 in a row to the Huskies.
Kingma is the first UW player to earn the honor this season. In three of the previous four weeks, it went to a Stanford player.
