Lights, camera …

Bullet points today:

– Everett’s home game Friday night against Portland is being televised live on FSN. This is the only time this season a Tips home game is being televised live. That means Friday is the one chance Everett fans have of getting some good face time this season. But that’s going to mean showing an extra amount of spirit and enthusiasm to attract the cameras.

– Friday’s opponent, Portland, has taken control of the race for first place in the Western Conference. The Winterhawks have won four straight and now lead second-place Spokane by three points with a game in hand. Add in that Everett has yet to beat Portland this season in six attempts, and the Tips have their work cut out for them. However, Portland’s No. 1 goalie Mac Carruth may not be available after suffering an injury Tuesday night at Prince George.

– The Tips recalled winger Zach McPhee for this weekend’s games. The 17-year-old, who was acquired from Tri-City in exchange for defenseman Paul Sohor, was called up for one game earlier this season, but that was on the road. This will be McPhee’s first time playing in front of a friendly Everett crowd.

– McPhee was called up because none of Everett’s injured forwards will be available this weekend. Josh Birkholz is listed on the injury report as out one week with a head injury, Campbell Elynuik is listed as one-to-two weeks with a shoulder injury, and Landon Ferraro is listed at three weeks because of hernia surgery.

— UPDATE, 3:10 p.m.

– Oops, forgot one thing. I’ve been given the go-ahead to cover Sunday’s game in Kent in person. That means better coverage in Monday’s paper, but it also means there will be no live blog during the game Sunday night. Adjust your plans accordingly.
