Prospect update: end of regular season
Published 2:59 pm Tuesday, March 1, 2011
All of the Canadian junior A and midget regular seasons have been completed, and with this being a slow week game-wise I figured it was a good time for an update on Everett’s Canadian prospects.
Standard disclaimer: This list is not complete, and it’s possible one or two of these prospects are no longer on Everett’s protected list.
Let’s start with the players who have already signed educational contracts with the Tips (players listed with their birth year, position, team and final regular season stats):
Junior A
Jordyn Boyd, 94, LW, Winnipeg Saints: 57 games, 14-18-32, 26 PIM
Taylor Cote, 93, RW, Grand Prairie Storm: 31 games, 0-3-3, 91 PIM
Zach McPhee, 93, RW, Vernon Vipers: 24 games, 3-1-4, 12 PIM
Midget AAA
Kohl Bauml, 94, C, Saskatoon Contacts: 44 games, 27-39-66, 26 PIM
Ryan Chynoweth, 95, C, Lethbirdge Hurricanes: n/a
Andy Desautels, 94, G, Regina Pat Canadians: 30 games, 17-10-2, 2.91 GAA, .902 %
Ty Hand, 95, D, Kelowna Pursuit of Excellence: 31 games, 1-3-4, 47 PIM
Darian Henry, 94, D, UFA Bisons: 33 games, 2-13-15, 88 PIM
Some notes about this group: Cote, who was placed on the suspended list after he left the Tips, must have been reinstated because he finished out the season with the Storm. McPhee, of course, was up with the Tips this past weekend. Bauml not only put up big numbers, his numbers were even better at the prestigious Mac’s Midget Tournament and in the first round of the playoffs. The only thing I know about Chynoweth’s stats is that he didn’t register enough points to get on the AMHL leaderboard. Desautels played for Team West at the U-17 World Hockey Challenge, while Chynoweth and Hand represented their provinces at the Canada Winter Games.
Now for some unsigned prospects:
Midget AAA
Austin Adam, 95, D, Valley West Hawks: 40 games, 2-7-9, 14 PIM
Brett Boehm, 94, C, Beardy’s Blackhawks: 45 games, 17-17-34, 32 PIM
Lyrik Friesen, 94, F, Winnipeg Thrashers: 43 games, 15-28-43, 61 PIM
Trent Lofthouse, 94, LW, Valley West Hawks: 37 games, 9-7-16, 40 PIM
Ryan McDonald, 94, RW, Winnipeg Wild: 43 games, 15-6-21, 10 PIM
Carson Samoridny, 94, RW, St. Albert Raiders: 34 games, 22-20-42, 14 PIM
Carson Stadnyk, 95, C, Saskatoon Contacts: 44 games, 7-12-19, 18 PIM
Midget AA/midget minor
Michael Bell, 95, F, Ridge Meadows A1: 39 games, 15-27-42, 38 PIM
Chandler Bruyckere, D, Notre Dame Hounds: 36 games, 7-14-21, 44 PIM
Austin Lotz, 95, G, Eastman: 4-13-0-2, 3.76 GAA
Geordie Maguire, 95, LW, Winnipeg Warriors: 29 games, 15-11-26, 4 PIM
Kyle Messervey, 95, F, Red Deer Northstar Chiefs: 32 games, 15-21-36, 72 PIM
Andrew Weich, 95, D, CBHA Rangers: 31 games, 7-17-24, 50 PIM
From this group, all the 94-born forwards are listed players rather than draft picks. I’ve seen Adam, Lofthouse and Bell participating in Everett practices, though they have the advantage of living just across the border in the Vancouver area. Maguire also played at the Canada Winter Games.
