Simpson doubtful for the weekend

Silvertips goaltender Kent Simpson is unlikely to play this weekend. Simpson, who suffered a sprained ankle during Everett’s 3-2 overtime loss at Tri-City last Friday, did not practice Thursday and is doubtful for this weekend’s two home games against Portland. In the absence of Simpson, Luke Siemens will continue to carry the load in goal for the Tips.

Everett’s other injured player, winger Campbell Elynuik (shoulder), has been cleared for full contact. He practiced at full speed Thursday, but he’s still questionable for Friday’s game.

And if you’re intent on seeing the Tips in person at Comcast Arena one last time before the end of the regular season, this weekend is your last chance as these two games are Everett’s final two home games of the season. Saturday is fan appreciation night, with the team’s annual awards ceremony taking place after the game is over.
