EDMONDS — A new 4-3-3 formation and two goals from Fareed Zerafat, including a goal in the 84th minute in overtime, gave Edmonds-Woodway a 3-2 win over Monroe in a Wesco 4A game between Wesco South and North boys soccer teams Friday night at Edmonds Stadium.

The Warriors’ remaining goals came from Zerafat in the 43rd minute (Zach Sakoi assist) and in the 62nd by Danny Dubois. Edmonds-Woodway (3-6 league, 3-7-1 overall) switched from the 4-4-2 to the new alignment against Lake Stevens in its previous game, and so far, so good, as the Warriors have won two straight.

“We finally started to find the net against Lake Stevens and here against Monroe,” said Edmonds-Woodway coach Tony Gilman. “They (Edmonds-Woodway players) think it works and they have confidence in it.”

Monroe’s Nick Manke scored in the final minute (80th) on a redirected corner kick that tied the score and forced overtime.

Taylor Turner scored in the 13th minute for Monroe.

Edmonds-Woodway’s goalkeeper was Erik Whitney. Nick Martinez was in goal for Monroe (3-6, 3-7).
